Intel Confirms Atom-Based Chips Will Support Android 4.1

Think Jelly Bean will only be limited to chipsets such as Snapdragons and Tegra-based chips? Well think again— Android newcomer Intel has confirmed its Atom processors on both phones and tablets will eventually support the newest Android OS. An Intel spokeswoman confirmed that:

“Intel continues to work closely with Google to enable future versions of Android, including Jelly Bean, on our family of low power Atom processors”.
So there you have it. Hopefully this will be the first sign of seeing the the last of the dated Gingerbread 2.3 on current and future Intel Atom-based devices, but ummm you know— the current and future Atom-based devices need to get Ice Cream Sandwich first.
