New CEO of Google is Indian

India-born Sundar Pichai was named CEO of Google, which will be the new entity’s largest fully owned subsidiary, a thinly trimmed version of what it is now.
The new structure, which will take shape over the next few months, was announced by Page in a blogpost and in a filing to the Security and Exchange Commission.
“Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies,” Page said in the post, adding: “Our model is to have a strong CEO who runs each business, with Sergey and me in service to them as needed.”
Google, he added, will be the largest but a “bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our main internet products contained in Alphabet instead”.
The “far afield” entities, he explained, would be Life Sciences, which works on on the glucose-sensing contact lens, and Calico, which is focussed on longevity.

ISRO’s commercial website ‘hacked’

The website of ISRO’s commercial arm Antrix Corporation Limited was reportedly hacked on Sunday and the space agency said efforts are on to set it right.
“The home page of the Antrix Corporation Limited website seems to have been hacked and we have already intimated this to the officials (of Antrix) who are dealing with the problem,” a senior ISRO official told PTI.
He said other pages of the website were fine. “Other pages are fine... however the officials at Antrix are trying to find out the problem and solve it,” he said.
Asked how much time it would require for the site to be set right, he said, “At this point I can only say that the officials are trying to fix the problem.”
The official, who did not wish to be identified, however said the website is “under construction”.
Asked if the Chinese were suspected to be involved in the hacking, the official said, “We cannot confirm this also, but Antrix officials are looking into the glitch.”
The “hacking” comes two days after ISRO successfully launched five British commercial satellites onboard PSLV-C28 from Sriharikota in its heaviest commercial mission.
Antrix is ISRO’s marketing arm for promotion and commercialization of space products, technical consultancy services and transfer of technologies developed by ISRO.
It provides space products and services to international customers worldwide. Its clientele includes EADS Astrium, Intelsat, Avanti Group, WorldSpace, Inmarsat, and other space institutions in Europe, Middle East and South East Asia.

Researchers with two security firms independently observed apps on the Google Play store that are stealing Facebook credentials, and one of the apps has been downloaded by up to a million Android users.
Cowboy Adventure is a working game by Tinker Studio that has between 500,000 and 1,000,000 downloads, but it is also malware – upon launching the app, certain users are met with a fraudulent Facebook login window that steals entered credentials and sends them to the attackers.

Digital India Unsecured:cyber crime in pune

Padma awardee Sanjay Dhande, who lost Rs 19 lakh to cyber fraudsters, says loopholes in system denying him justice.

It’s a double whammy for victim cyber crimes. Firstly, investigators have failed to nab the prime culprits. Secondly, the “flaws” in the legal system have apparently delayed and denied justice to victims. The case of Sanjay Govind Dhande, a resident of Pune, who lost Rs 19 lakh to cyber fraudsters, is a case in example.

A noted educationist and former director of the prestigious IIT Kanpur, Dhande was honoured with Padmashri in 2013. The same year, he lost a major part of his “life savings” to cyber criminals.
The case
Cyber criminals hacked Dhande’s account in ICICI’s Aundh branch in Pune in September 2013 and withdrew Rs 19 lakh from it through multiple illegal online transactions. They managed to block his mobile phone SIM card of Vodafone. Due to it, Dhande did not get any alerts from the bank regarding these transactions. Dhande got to know about it only after he got a call from the bank that his balance had gone below the lowest limit. Dhande then filed a complaint with the ICICI bank and also with the Chauhrshrungi police station.

Probe revealed that Dhande’s money was transferred to 11 bank accounts in Mumbai, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The money was withdrawn soon after it got transferred. After probe, police arrested three of these account holders from Mumbai. Fraudsters had paid them Rs 3,000 each for using their bank accounts. Account-holders from other places were not arrested. Probe also revealed the fraudsters has obtained a duplicate SIM card of Dhande’s contact number in Nagpur. Those involved in SIM card swapping have not being traced as yet.

These username / password combinations can be changed from the administrative panel and should be set to something difficult to guess.

Keep a password which is difficult to guess and not easy to crack. A good password is 8 characters long, not easily guessable, contains mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters as well as numbers and preferably contains special characters like.

A minor girl in Odisha's Cuttack district committed suicide after her obscene pictures were circulated on a social networking site, police said on Friday.

A man in the 15-year-old girl's village had secretly clicked some photographs of the girl while she was taking a bath in the backyard of her house and blackmailed her into having a physical relationship him.
