Joshuah Witt, 35, the final member of a Seattle crime ring that combined hacking with old-fashioned breaking-and-entering, has been sentenced to just under eight years in federal prison, federal prosecutors announcedFriday. Another member of the racket, Earl Griffin, 36, previously had been sentenced to eight years in prison, and Brad Lowe, 39, had received 6 1/2 years. The trio was accused of "wardriving" to break into poorly secured corporate wireless networks and physically breaking into buildings to steal equipment and infect company computers with malware. In April, Witt pleaded guilty to charges that included conspiracy, aggravated identity theft and access device fraud. During its 30-month spree, the trio hacked into the networks of more than two dozen businesses and burglarized more than 40 others, resulting in $3 million in fraud losses.
