There's good news for Tata Photon Plus subscribers - Tata Docomo has announced a whopping 60 percent reduction in its tariff plans for Tata Photon Plus postpaid and prepaid customers. The offer is available across the country. Tata Docomo, the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices, is also offering a cash-back for its postpaid users.

As per the new tariff plan, Tata Photon Plus postpaid users are offered 6GB of data for Rs. 950, and 11GB data for Rs. 1,200 (both valid for 30 days month). On exceeding the specified data limit, users will be able to consume data at a throttled speed. These two unlimited plans also come with a cash back of Rs. 100, per month for 12 months.

The other two entry level postpaid tariff plans are Rs. 250 for 1GB (which earlier was priced at Rs. 650) and Rs. 450 for 2GB (which earlier cost Rs. 750). Prepaid users can now get unlimited 2GB usage for Rs. 700.

The operator has also come up with “reload packs” for Tata Photon Plus postpaid users, with 1GB data at Rs. 100 and 2GB for Rs. 350. Check out the new Tata Photon tariff plans here.

Tata Docomo, meanwhile, has also joined the 3G price war by revising its 3G data tariff prices. The operator is now offering 1GB of 3G data for Rs. 255 , with validity of 30 days. For 1.5 GB and 2 GB, the operator is charging Rs. 350 and Rs. 450 respectively. Check out the revised Tata Docomo tariff plans in the table below:

(Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Monday rejected a request by Samsung Electronics Co. to lift a ban on U.S. sales of its Galaxy Tab 10.1, another setback for the South Korean firm in its tablet patent battle with iPad maker Apple Inc.
Apple and Samsung, the world's largest consumer electronics corporations, are waging legal war in several countries, accusing each other of patent violations as they vie for supremacy in a fast-growing market for mobile devices.
U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California, last week granted a requst by Apple to halt sales of the tablet, which runs on Google Inc's (GOOG.O) Android, giving the iPhone maker a significant win.
Samsung had asked the court to stay the injunction pending resolution of an appeal.
"Samsung is disappointed with the court's decision that denied our motion to stay. We believe today's ruling will ultimately reduce the availability of superior technological features to consumers in the U.S.," a Samsung spokeswoman told Reuters.
The spokeswoman added that Samsung will continue to pursue a request for an appeal of the preliminary injunction.
Samsung has already appealed to a federal appeals court in Washington, DC, which has exclusive jurisdiction over intellectual property disputes.
Samsung is also fighting an injunction issued by Koh on Friday against the sale of its Galaxy Nexus phone, another significant win for Apple as pre-trial injunctions are rarely granted.
An Apple spokeswoman reiterated the company's previous comment that Samsung's latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad.
"This kind of blatant copying is wrong and, as we've said many times before, we need to protect Apple's intellectual property when companies steal our ideas," the spokeswoman said.
Apple sold 13.6 million iPads in January-March to control 63 percent of the global tablet market, according to research from Display Search. Samsung sold 1.6 million tablets, giving it 7.5 percent of the market.

Samsung has started taking preorders for the Samsung Galaxy Beam, an Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone from Samsung’s stable that boasts of an inbuilt projector. The Galaxy Beam runs on a 1GHz dual-core processor, 768MB RAM and has a 4-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

For now, there is no information on whether the device will be upgradable to Android 4.0 ICS or 4.1 Jelly Bean but we expect that the device does qualify to warrant an upgrade. The device also boasts of a 5MP rear camera as well as a 1.3MP video call camera. The phone comes with 8GB internal storage with a microSD slot up to 32GB, Bluetooth 3.0, micro USB port, Wireless N and weighs in 145 grams. It also features a 2,000 mAh battery, hopefully providing the juice for all day usage.

The built-in projector of the device has 15 lumens brightness. It can project images up to 50-inches, and will be able to playback the media from the internal storage as well as a memory card.

Samsung originally announced the Galaxy Beam at MWC 2012 and we got a closer look at the device at the Samsung South West Asia Regional Forum 2012 held in Bangkok. At the event, Ranjit Yaday, Country Head, Mobile and IT, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. said “The Galaxy Beam provides mobile freedom, enabling a unique shared experience around digital content for everyone - anywhere and instantly - from a smartphone as slim and portable as any in the market”.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy SIII, users who preorder the device will have to pay the full amount at the time of preordering. The device is priced at Rs. 29,990.

(Reuters) - Reliance Globalcom, the underseas cable unit of Reliance Communications (RLCM.NS), said on Monday it had launched a joint venture with Iraq that substantially expands the country's broadband and telecommunications links to the outside world.
The activation of Al-Faw Cable Landing Station, in a project with Iraqi Telecommunications and Post Company (ITPC) will connect Iraq to countries in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America, the Indian firm said in a statement sent to Reuters.
Reliance Globalcom, which owns the world's largest private undersea cable system spanning 65,000 kilometers, said the station with a design capacity of 680 Gbps with two diverse routes, would initially use 50 Gbps on each route to cater to existing market demand.
The two diverse routes were connected to the Falcon undersea fiber-optic cable network owned by Reliance Globalcom.
"This will help connect Iraq to the rest of the world through our global networks. The Middle East is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world," said Rory Cole, COO of Reliance Globalcom said in the statement.
Industry executives said the project was the first cable network to land in Iraq, a country of 30 million people, still recovering from the 2003 U.S. invasion that followed years of international sanctions under Saddam Hussein. Under 3 percent of the country's population is currently connected to the Internet.
Poor infrastructure, high operating costs, conflicts between communications regulators and security problems are seen stunting development there.
Iraq holds a pivotal geographical position in the region and could be an important communications bridge joining the Middle East with Europe and Asia.
"This is an extremely important strategic initiative that will facilitate the connectivity of all countries in the Middle East region to Iraq and also significantly improve the quality and speed as well as the reliability of Iraq's connectivity to the rest of the world," Iraq's Minister of Communications Mohammed Allawi was quoted as saying in the statement.
Reliance Communications, India's second-largest mobile firm by users, acquired the FLAG undersea cable network for $207 million in 2003, and the business is now part of its Reliance Globalcom unit. It sells capacity on the network to many of the world's major carriers.
Demand for bandwidth is soaring in the Middle East, driven by the deregulation of regional telecoms markets as well as a desire by governments to diversify from oil and gas into sectors such as finance and media that require fast international connections.

(Reuters) - A little-known leftist militant group claimed responsibility on Friday for an attack on Microsoft's (MSFT.O) Greek headquarters earlier this week.

Hooded attackers rammed a van packed with gas canisters into the Microsoft building in Athens on Wednesday and then set the vehicle on fire, causing damage but no injuries.
At least two people wielding pistols and a machinegun kept security guards away as they carried out the attack, police said.
In a statement published on the Internet, the International Revolutionary Front said it singled out Microsoft to strike a blow at capitalism.
"We chose this building because Microsoft is one of the most powerful companies of the computer sector ... which is now carrying capitalism on its shoulders," it said.
The group said it also carried out the attack as a sign of support to other militants currently detained by police in Greece and Italy.
The statement made mention of Ted Kaczynski, also known as the "Unabomber", who conducted a mail bomb campaign in the United States over almost 20 years.
Arson attacks against domestic and foreign banks and local politicians have become more frequent in Greece in recent years as the country battles soaring unemployment and struggles through a recession deepened by austerity policies imposed by foreign lenders.
The International Revolutionary Front made its first appearance last year, carrying out arson attacks on the private vehicles of policemen as well as on a branch of U.S. fast-food chain McDonald's.
"We are taking the claim seriously and are investigating its authenticity," a police official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
